Melissa Laing is a curator, artist and theorist. Her work explores ideas of belonging and national identity, (in)security discourses, and migration through the intersection of art and theory. In 2011 Laing has presented at Contact, the AAANZ annual conference, University of Victoria, Wellington, the Postcolonial Studies Research Network Conference, Citizenship in an Era of Global Crisis, University of Otago; the 6th European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) General Conference, University of Iceland; She also published writings on New Zealand artists Paul Cullen and Simon Glaister.
