Elodie A. Roy
Elodie A. Roy is a sound and material culture theorist. Her research is principally concerned with the visual and material culture of phonography, the cultural formation and representation of the senses, and multisensory objects in memory and heritage practices. She was the co-organiser of the Material Culture in Action conference (Glasgow School of Art, 2015) and the Musical Materialities in the Digital Age conference (University of Sussex, 2014). She is the author of Media, Materiality and Memory: Grounding the Groove (Ashgate, 2015) and of various articles, book chapters and reviews for Media History, Sound Studies, The Journal of Nineteenth Century Studies and Modern and Contemporary France. Forthcoming publications include a book chapter in The Routledge Companion to Popular Music History and Heritage (eds. Sarah Baker, Lauren Istvandity and Catherine Strong) and a chapter in the edited collection Music-Media-Infrastructure (eds. Kyle Devine and Alexandrine Boudreault-Fournier). She contributed pieces to a number of exhibitions including Radiophrenia (Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Arts, Spring 2015) and A Partial Index (Baltic 39, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Summer 2014). She is currently lecturing in the History and Theory of Culture Institute at Humboldt University, Berlin.
