Estelle Barrett
Estelle Barrett is Professor and HDR Coordinator at the Institute of Koorie Education, Deakin University. Her co-edited book, Barrett, E. and Bolt B. (Eds.) Practice as Research: Approaches to Creative Arts Enquiry, (I.B. Tauris London, 2007; reprinted 2010), was followed by Barrett, E. and Bolt B. (Eds.) Material Inventions: Applying Creative Research (I.B. Tauris, 2014). Barrett has published reviews and articles in Real Time, Artlink, Text, Social Semiotics, Double Dialogues, The International Journal of Critical Arts, Zetesis and the Journal of Visual Arts Practice. Her monograph, Kristeva Reframed: Interpreting Key Thinkers for the Arts (2011), examines the relevance of Kristevan thought for the creative arts and artistic research. A recent book, co-edited with Barbara Bolt, Carnal Knowledge: Towards a “New Materialism” through the Arts, was published in 2013. Barrett is a Research Fellow of the International Centre for Fine Arts Research Birmingham University.
