Guggi Kofod

Real name:

Guggi Kofod is a materials scientist, exploring fundamental aspects of dielectric elastomer actuators. He holds a BSc in chemistry and physics and MSc in physics from Copenhagen University, Denmark. His PhD, researching dielectric elastomer actuators under the supervision of P. Sommer-Larsen at Risø National Laboratory Denmark, was awarded by the Danish Technical University. He has worked for the Danish Institute of Fundamental Metrology, as Assistant Professor for Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines, and for the Applied Condensed Matter Group in Potsdam University, Germany. He has received a Marie Curie Fellowship, and a NanoFutur grant (project “KompAkt”) from BMBF to establish and head a group focused on developing new materials for dielectric elastomer actuators, based on a nano-composite approaches. He is the Chair of the Marie Curie Fellows Association and member of the Advisory Group to the FP7 “People” programme.
