Estelle Barrett

Estelle Barrett is Professor and HDR Coordinator at the Institute of Koorie Education, Deakin University. She has co-edited three books with Barbara Bolt: Practice as Research: Approaches to Creative Arts Enquiry (I. B. Tauris, 2007; reprinted 2010), Carnal Knowledge: Towards a ‘New Materialism’ Through the Arts, (I. B. Tauris, 2013) and Material Inventions: Applying Creative Research (I. B. Tauris, 2014). Barrett has published reviews and articles in Real Time, Artlink, Text, Social Semiotics, Double Dialogues, Studies in Material Thinking,The International Journal of Critical Arts, the Journal of Visual Arts Practice, Zetesis, and Cultural Studies Review. Her monograph, Kristeva Reframed: Interpreting Key Thinkers for the Arts (2011), examines the relevance of Kristevan thought for the creative arts and artistic research. Barrett is a Research Fellow of the International Centre for Fine Arts Research Birmingham University.
